How much paint does striping take?
A gallon of traffic paint covers roughly 320 linear feet of a standard 4-inch line at proper wet-film thickness. A double-loaded bay uses about 18 painted linear feet per stall once shared lines are accounted for, so 40 stalls comes to around 720 linear feet, or a little over two gallons per coat.
Restriping over existing lines needs one coat. New or freshly sealed pavement needs two, because the first coat soaks into the surface.
ADA stalls cost more than they look
An accessible stall is not just a wider box. It carries a hatched access aisle, a painted symbol and usually a sign on a post, which is why it consumes roughly five times the paint of a standard stall and is priced separately on every bid.
Federal ADA guidance requires at least one accessible stall for the first 25 spaces, scaling up from there, with one in every six being van-accessible. Check your local code — several states are stricter than the federal minimum.
